Organic Perilla bicolor
Perilla bicolor, botanical name Perilla frutescens, is also known as Shiso or Japanese Basil. Its microgreens develop in just over three weeks; a little patience will be necessary, but the result will surprise you. In fact, its leaves are not only rich in nutrients (especially antioxidants, iron and vitamins A and C), but also have a sophisticated appearance and a delicate, refreshing taste, reminiscent of aniseed and cinnamon.
How can I grow it?
Growing organic bicolor Perilla microgreens requires a little time and patience, but the results will be worth the wait. To boost the germination will of your organic seeds, we recommend storing them in the refrigerator for 3/4 days and soaking them in warm water for 2/4 hours before sowing. Next, sprinkle them on your substrate and leave them in the dark, covered, until they have fully germinated, usually after 6/8 days. At this point, place your organic bicolor Perilla sprouts in the light and spray them lightly and often with water to complete cultivation. After another 4/6 days, you can harvest the first bicolor Perilla microgreens, otherwise wait another 10/12 days for larger, more developed leaves.
How can I eat it?
The organic microgreens of Perilla bicolor are characterised by the sophisticated and colourful appearance of its leaves and their fresh, delicate taste with notes of aniseed and cinnamon. It is therefore used not only as an ingredient in traditional Asian dishes, but also as an edible and delicious decoration to add a touch of elegance to any dish, including desserts.
Organic bicolor Perilla seeds may contain traces of soy, mustard, wheat, gluten and grasses.
Store seeds in a cool, ventilated place, with temperature between 8° and 20° C, away from weather, changes in humidity and sunlight.
