Organic non GMO seeds for microgreens

4,00 175,00

Chinese mahogany, also known as Toona, is a variety widely spread and consumed throughout South East Asia, not only as a culinary ingredient, but also as a natural health remedy. What distinguishes this variety are its unmistakable garlic flavour and wealth of nutrients, especially protein, folic acid and vitamins B, C and K.

Description

Organic Chinese Mahogany

Compared to most other varieties, the seeds of Chinese Mahogany – botanical name Toona sinensis – require a little more time and care to develop their microgreens to the fullest, but the result will be worth the wait. Its small oval leaves are characterised by their bright green colour and smooth surface and give off an intense garlic scent and flavour from the very first moment, with a slightly spicy, bitter aftertaste.

How can I grow it?

Producing organic Chinese Mahogany microgreens is quick and easy, even at home.
Usually, germination of this variety is abundant but uneven. For best cultivation, we suggest you start with a pre-soaking in cold water for 4/6 hours.
After draining and gently drying the seeds, you can plant them (in potting soil or, if you prefer, in a hemp substrate) and keep them covered and in the dark until the first sprouts have emerged, spraying with water when necessary. This step may take up to 10 days.
At this point, you can uncover and move your sprouts into the sunlight, continuing to water little and often.
About 20 days after sowing, your organic Chinese Mahogany microgreens will be ready to enrich your dishes with flavour and aroma.

How can I eat it?

Toona’s organic microgreens have an intense, pungent flavour reminiscent of garlic. Therefore, just a few leaves are enough to add flavour to your dishes. Use them to give a lively and fresh addition to salads and burgers, or as an exotic accompaniment to your meat dishes.

Organic Chinese Mahogany seeds may contain traces of soya, mustard, wheat, gluten and grasses.
Store the seeds in a cool, ventilated place, at a temperature between 8° and 20° C, away from weather, changes in humidity and sunlight.
